Living History Farms - Family Halloween

We enjoyed a little early halloween at the Living History Farms trick-or-treating tonight.

Gabe was a little nervous to wear his costume but he warmed up to the idea after we told him he can have candy. We first started off by eating at "old mcdonald's house". Then trick-or-treating, finally the little fire chief got to actually sit inside a firetruck. Noah was all smiles for the event. We all rode on a horse drawn carriage ride too and enjoyed a halloween story in the big barn. What a fun night.

Outrageous October Update

Noah loves being an Aerosmith fan, just like Daddy.

October has been eventful. Last week started out with me getting sick with a sinus infection, delaying our trip to Rochester for Papa's surgery. Thankfully, Mama and the boys were able to go on Tuesday - Thursday to be with Nana and Papa. Papa's surgery was successful and we are so thankful.

Both boys have been battling colds/runny noses/coughs for weeks now. Gabe started the train and we all have followed. Finally, last night Gabe spiked a fever of 102.6* and said his head and tummy hurt. Mama brought him into the doctor today and the poor boy has strep. He was also nice enough to check Noah and he has the beginning of an ear infection - his first. Both boys are on antibiotics, so hopefully the Jones household will be well before we know it.

Gabriel's newest news:

Gabe has learned to draw stick people this week on his easel -which he loves. They have large heads, no bodies, and really long legs and arms. Cute none-the-less. Gabe also LOVES jigsaw puzzles. He is getting so good at them too. I love to watch him and see his little mind just working out where the puzzle pieces go all by himself. The neighbors decorated their home with a scary looking werewolf in their window which terrifies Gabe. It has teeth and drool and wild eyes. As of yesterday he says he isn't scared of the "wolf" anymore - as the wolf is showing his teeth because he is hungry - not because he is scared according to the 3 year old. Yet everytime we drive into the garage, I have to close the garage before he will get out of the Jeep - in case the wolf is still hungry. Gabe learned last week at preschool how to stop-drop-and-roll in case he catches on fire - and he is eager to show anyone this new-found skill. Today at the doctor, the nurse took Noah down the hall quick to weigh him as and Gabe and I stayed in the room. Gabe cried out for Noah and had tears, "I want Noah with us, don't let her take him away!" He told me on Monday at the grocery store that Daddy is his best friend. He also responds back when we tell him that we love him, with, "I love you too, Mommy/Daddy." He is recognizes the letter G and knows that his name starts with G.

Noah's newest news:

Noah is really wanting to go-go. He pushes himself way up with his arms, or nose dives into the carpet with his knees up - but neither at the same time. He loves to kick and kick with excitement, so I know my baby will be on the move soon. He loves to watch big brother and play with his big brother's toys. He is ever so talkative and LOVES balloons. He laughs everytime he sees one. He has now learned to roll over and likes to sleep on his belly at night. He has started to show preference for Mommy over Daddy - which is fine with me since Gabe likes Daddy more. Since being sick Noah has regressed in his sleeping. He used to go to sleep on his own and sleep through the night. Now, he still goes to sleep on his own around 9:30 but wakes to eat 1 time and want to wake up early - around 7am. Hopefully he will go back to being a good sleeper. Noah loves to chew on anything - especially his hands and toes. No toothies yet though.

I have chili in the crockpot on this cool October day for dinner. I had a haircut scheduled just for me tonight at 4pm that I was looking forward to going to alone - but then I looked at Gabe and noticed his scruffy looking head and asked the hairstylist if she had room for him too. So we will go together. Even though it would be nice to be alone - before too long neither boy will want to go anywhere with me so I should just relish in the fact that he wants to be with me. Both boys are asleep and I have a moment to reflect between wiping noses, changing diapers, cleaning, discipline, and hugs and kisses. In case I don't say it enough, I love being a Mom.
